Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said his party will contest the Kuala Kangsar parliamentary seat if a by-election is held there.

Zahid said that the results of the 15th General Election serve as the basis for this intention.

According to him, this is as UMNO had received the second-highest number of votes after the candidate from an opposition party who won the seat.
