老一輩港人也許還記得1979年8月2日超強颱風荷貝襲港，當年釀成14死260傷，是二戰後第六多人死的十號風球。《蘋果》翻查天文台網頁，發現當日天文台早上7時許掛起八號風球後，在公告中竟呼籲市民「請勿打電話詢問天文台有關熱帶氣旋消息。本台在每小時的30分及58分，均有最新消息報告」，直至掛起九號風球，才在公告刪去此句。
