砂拉越州政府早前宣布拨款3000万令吉协助州子民偿还高等教育贷学金（PTPTN）。教长马智礼对此回应，高教基金局也提出了雇主为大学毕业生偿还贷学金时能获得税务减免的措施。
马智礼补充，州政府和联邦政府应该设法提供更高工资的就业机会，因为这样更加永续和稳定，也能提高人民的经济能力。
“当他们有了更高的工资，他们也能还债，而且我们要可持续的。因此我们鼓励州政府为人民提供更稳定和高工资的工作机会。”
