尽管怡保高庭宣判印裔妇女英迪拉前夫擅自将3名孩子改信伊斯兰教无效，但上诉庭以民事法庭无权审理改教案为由，推翻高庭裁决。“本法庭多数意见认为……毫无疑问的，一名人士是否为穆斯林，属于伊斯兰法庭的裁决权限……改信伊教，也是伊斯兰教法庭专属权力范围。”
