很多人并不知道，在我国，家庭帮佣并没有得到１９５５年雇佣法令完整的保护，比如，在这个法令中关于休假天数、工时长短、产假福利、辞职或辞退等的条文，都不适用在家庭帮佣。

虽然这个缺陷多年来受人诟病，但迟迟没有改进，这也导致许多帮佣，尤其是外籍劳工，在受到雇主欺压时，难以替自己讨回公道。
