馬雲2013年接受《南華早報》專訪，曾引起軒然大波。馬雲當時談及管理之道，並以六四屠城作例子，稱六四中的鄧小平「為了穩定必須要做這些殘酷的決定，在當時是最正確的決定」。其言論一出即被批評喪失良知，是向北京政府獻媚。其後《南早》在中文網站刪除該幾句敏感說話，負責採訪的記者也辭職。
