首相马哈迪在美国的一场对话会上透露，他在509接过大马政权后，发现国家的财务陷入困境，政府没有钱来发展国家。但由于他已经许下3年就会下台的承诺，因此他必须每天工作18个小时，确保能在交棒前解决问题。
