Civil society groups Bersih and Centre to Combat Corruption and Cronyism (C4) have refuted 1MDB's statement that the RM430 million held by Swiss authorities from three banks was a fine imposed.
Bersih acting chairperson Shahrul Aman Mohd Saari told a press conference in Petaling Jaya today that the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (Finma) had referred to the money as a “disgorgement of illegally generated profits” and 1MDB was mentioned in their press releases so how could 1MDB say that they have not lost any money at all.
