Annnnnd the award for the worst band ever goes to none other than the Aussie boys of 5 Seconds of Summer!!
And no, that’s not just my opinion. Juuuuust kidding, we tottaly love them! But for real, the group did take home the nights most…. Honorary….. award at the annual NME Awards, held at London’s O2 Academy Brixton, and no, this is not a joke.
The band scored the award for ‘Worst Band,’ but instead of shedding tears of sorrow, you bet your American Apparel underwear they were shedding tears of joy. After Actually asking fans to vote for them for this award… They proudly collected their winnings and even shared the good news on social media.
The band’s guitarist, Michael Clifford, took to Twitter to thank fans for voting, by writing, "Won the NME worst band award. I'm so damn happy right now. thx to everyone who voted #dreamscomingtrue." Bassist, Calum Hood also retweeted a fan, who said, "5SOS won worst band I'm so proud of them."
Now, before you think this is total sarcasm… We should mention That in the previous years OF the award show, some bands who took home the same award were the Jonas Brothers, The 1975, and One Direction… Who won the award two years in a row. Sooo it’s pretty safe to say that 5SOS ain’t in bad company…
