Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made history and melted hearts all around the world with a royal wedding like never before.
I’m not crying. You’re crying.
Ladies and gentlemen, meet Their Royal Highness, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Yes, just in case, you were hiding living under a rock this weekend, Prince Harry married Meghan Markle in the best wedding ceremony ever, and now they’re a duke and a duchess, aaaand they live in a palace. Good day for those two. And a great day for all of us who caught the entire royal affair. From the dress to the emotional ceremony, plus many a celebrity guest, and Princess Charlotte’s aggressively adorable wave, it’s time to break down the best moments from the Royal Wedding.
Before Meghan married her prince, St. George’s chapel was flooded with fellow royals and so many celebrities. George and Amal Clooney turned heads, as did David and Victoria Beckham. Couple Goals. Icons in their own right, Oprah and Sir Elton John also attended the royal affair. Meghan’s former Suits co-star, Patrick Adams also attended with his wife, Pretty Little Liars’ Troian Bellisario. Also spotted was James Corden, Serena Williams, Priyanka Chopra, and so many more. Pretty hot wedding.
But all eyes were on Meghan as she arrived at the chapel in an elegant Givenchy gown. And that veil? LIVING. The 16 foot, silk veil was embroidered with flowers representing all 53 countries in the commonwealth, as well as the California poppy, and many were instantly reminded of Princess Diana’s dress, and that iconic train.
But nobody was as big of a fan of Meghan in her gown than her husband, Prince Harry, who practically caused the internet to implode when he bit his lip after mouthing “I’m so lucky. Don’t worry, we’re not over it too.
Throughout the historical ceremony, Meghan and Harry put a fresh spin on tradition. Guests were treated to a moving gospel performance of ‘Stand By Me,’ and later, a rendition of This Little Light of Mine. The ceremony also included the addition of a reading by Reverend Michael Curry, the first African-American head of the Episcopal Church in America. During his powerful sentiment, he quoted Dr. Martine Luther King Jr. saying QUOTE “Love is the only way. There's power in love. Don't underestimate it. Don't even over-sentimentalize it. There's power, power in love."
And if that wasn’t enough of a tear-jerker, then Prince Harry crying as Guide Me, O Thou Great Redeemer was sung will definitely get you right in the feels. The hymn was his mother’s favorite, and was sung at her funeral. It was definitely a very sweet, emotional moment.
And our hearts continued to melt seeing Prince George and Princess Charlotte being absolutely adorable, as per usual, but it was Princess Charlotte that stole the show multiple times with her very excited wave. She was later photographed sticking out her tongue at photographers.
Kind of amazing. A huge congrats to the Royal couple!
