Ed Sheeran DITCHES Pop Music For Next Album & Clears Up Royal Wedding Rumors

Let’s face it guys and gals, our fave ginger hit maker can really do no wrong but according to Ed himself, he seems to be very thoughtful about the dangers of only sticking to the pop genre. Clearly, he’s seen major mainstream success with his more pop-centric alums but on a recent podcast with George Ezra he said QUOTE The next record that I’m making is not a pop album. Long story short Ed revealed that he thinks it dangerous to have a pop music career that just grows and grows because the expectations from the label and from fans can get out of control. He said about skipping a pop album this time that "The reason it’s not a pop album is people expect you to come and the next album they’re going to be like ‘it has to be bigger than ‘Shape of You’ and it has to sell more than this' ... But if I control it and go, ‘Here’s a lo-fi record that I really f**ing love,’ my fans are gonna be like ‘Yay!’, and the pop world are gonna be like ‘oh well, maybe the next one.’"
Again, I stick by what I said earlier – Ed is just an artist with raw talent and I think whatever he does is going to be golden. Granted, there’s a huge maybe it won’t sell as many copies but if it’s awesome and fulfilling for him, who cares. Remember that kick ass album Lady Gaga made with Tony Bennett? IF you haven’t heard that I think it’s a great example of what Ed’s talking about here.
Ed says he’ already got 6 or 7 songs ready for the new album and he revealed that it’ll be very acoustic. I already love it. Ed’s also been swamped in the best way possible, writing songs with and for artists like Liam Payne, Justin Bieber, Little Mix, Camilla Cabello. The list goes on forever.
