Petition to make March 3 National Ed Sheeran Day forevermore because pretty sure the only thing I’ll be completing today is listening to Ed’s entire album on repeat.
If there’s anyone in the world we are totally 100% completely ok with spamming our YouTube feeds with a free listen of every single song off of his third studio album Divide, it’s clearly Ed Sheeran. As if we didn’t already know Ed was quite the charmer based off his hopelessly romanticized lyrics, he goes and pulls the ultimate gentlemanly move, releasing all 16 songs off of Divide onto YouTube, completely free of charge… yeah, ‘HELLO 2018 GRAMMYS, IT’S ME, MEET ED.’
Ed features a variety of songs ranging from heartbreak to nostalgia to not-so-subtle jabs at his ex’s new loves, like his song “New Man”, and it’s guaranteed to leave you thinking, ‘been there, felt that!’
Many Ed fans alike have also taken to social media to express their excitement and gratitude toward Ed, as one user wrote, “I go on youtube and suddenly all of my recommendations and current uploads are light blue videos. Ed Sheeran's #DIVIDE impact.” Another fan expressed his love for Ed and the kindhearted person he is, saying “#DIVIDE i love the fact that @edsheeran has put them all on youtube for people who can't afford it. i love you dude.”
Ed had been teasing the album for quite some time now, and clearly he’s no stranger to giving away subtle hints as he also recently dropped a truth bomb about a possible Taylor Swift album to be expected by the end of the year. During an interview with BBC, Ed revealed that 2017 would be HIS year, mainly because most of his competition, including The Weeknd, Bruno Mars and Beyoncé all released albums last year.
He then went on to say that he’s got all year to relish in his own glory, noting that, “Taylor Swift isn’t going to be releasing until probably the end of this year — Christmas is the smartest time to release because that’s when everyone buys records.”
It’s no secret that Taylor’s been busy writing new music for her musical pals including Little Big Town and their track “Better Man” and more recently Taylor’s friend Lorde confirmed via Instagram that Taylor had some part in helping write Lorde’s newly released single “Green Light”. Taylor posted a photo of Lorde’s new album artwork to her Instagram when Lorde commented, “I love you and your photogenic memory love journey with this song.”
So somewhere in between lending out her genius writing chops, she’s bound to have found time to write new music for herself, right? Well only time will tell, but right now, I gotta know what you guys think about Ed’s new album and what your favorite song is, and do you think Taylor will release new music this year? Get to talking right down here in the comments and after that, speaking of Lorde’s new song, be sure to click right over here to get all the scoop on “Green Light”.
