National Human Rights Society (Hakam) chairperson Ambiga Sreenevasan said that the Anti-Fake News Bill 2018 is meant to have a 'chilling effect' on the rakyat and on the press to stop people talking about certain issues and ensure that those who are moving the bill are protected.
She said there was no other reason for the bill as many parts of it are repeats of existing legislature.
