Former Umno leader Annuar Musa has urged his new party PAS to field him as an election candidate only as a last resort.
Annuar, a five-time lawmaker since 1986, said he joined PAS to pursue his goals of protecting Islam and Malays, and not public office.
"Even if I am not fielded, it's okay, as long as Umno doesn't win," he said.
