BN component parties have already reached a consensus that the post of the coalition chairperson will continuously be held by the Umno president.

BN secretary-general Annuar Musa said that the BN supreme council meeting held last month, had agreed in consensus and convention, that the Umno president is the BN chairperson.

This came after Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos had backed a purported call for Pekan MP Najib Abdul Razak to be reappointed as BN chief, a position he held as then prime minister and Umno president.
