DAP organising secretary Anthony Loke has urged Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob not to give in to pressure to call for a general election.

In November, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the MOU signed between the government and the opposition is not a "scripture" that will prevent GE15 from being held earlier than July next year.

Zahid is seen as leading the charge for an early national election.

Previously, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has said his ministry is firmly against the idea of an early election.

He stressed that it would be “very irresponsible” to hold an unnecessary national election during the Covid-19 pandemic.
