PKR president Anwar Ibrahim recalled how the government banned rap music in the 1990s, and he was the one who defended the genre in the cabinet at the time.

He said he raised the issue to then prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad during a cabinet meeting.

Anwar said this during an event in Ampang last night to welcome rapper Altimet and comedian Afdlin Shauki to PKR.
