When asked to comment on people who are questioning the Selangor Sultan’s decisions in relation to the ongoing menteri besar crisis, Defence Minister, Hishamuddin Hussein said that the royal institutions are considered ‘pillars of the nation-building’ and the Ministry of Defence and the Malaysian Armed Forces would not be carrying out their responsibilities if these pillars are being belittled, whether it is in context of religion, royalty or race relations.

Armed forces chief Zulkifeli Mohd Zin added that the royal institutions are sacred and should be defended and any insinuations or insults against the royal institutions could be looked at as an attempt to weaken the military itself.
