Super Bowl 50 has come and gone and while everyone is still talking about that crazy halftime performance, we can’t get over the crazy commercials that aired during the game.
Puppy Monkey Baby, singing skittles portraits, Doritos-lovin’ fetuses, Super Bowl commercials are usually pretty outrageous and this year was no different.
If you’re not watching the Super Bowl for the commercials, you’re watching it for the wrong reasons. This year during Super Bowl 50, there were a TON of great, hilarious, and even super weird commercials shown in between the game. So, without further ado, here are six of the best commercials from this year’s super bowl game.
First up is Mountain Dew’s puppy-monkey-baby ad. The commercial was actually supposed to feature four of MD’s new kickstart flavors – if you’re wondering, their new flavors are midnight grape, watermelon, blueberry pomegranate, and blood orange -- but to be honest, I think everyone was too confused and in shock over the whole ‘puppy-monkey-baby’ thing to even hear what the commercial was about.
According to a rep at Mountain Dew, the puppy-monkey-baby character was created because those are QUOTE “three awesome things fans love in a Super Bowl commercial.”
Well, I guess that statement is super true because the next commercial on our list is the Doritos commercial that pretty much shocked the world. The ad featured a pregnant woman at her ultrasound appointment with her man casually eating Doritos right next to her. The unborn fetus is then seen reacting to its dad eating the cheesy tortilla chip through the monitor. The mommy to be gets super mad at her partner, throws the bag of chips across the room and then this happens.
It’s official, no one. Not even unborn babies can resist the taste of Doritos. Something else people can’t resist? Coca-cola. In a game of cat and mouse, the Hulk and Ant-Man battled it out for a can of Coke, but in the end, they both figured out a way to share the tiny can of goodness. Take a look.
Pretty cute, right?? The Heinz Ketchup commercial was also pretty amazing. What could be better than a ton of wiener dogs dressed up in hot dog costumes running to people dressed as condiments? Seriously, nothing. Let’s just watch this wonderful moment together and imagine the dogs are running towards us.
Shout out to T-Mobile coming in for the win with this epic Super Bowl commercial! Aside from their collab with Drake, the commercial they did with Steve Harvey that aired during the game had to be one of the best ones of the night.
I mean, it’s pretty bold to call out the competition on using outdated information and making a pop culture reference by using Steve to present the facts to the viewers watching, am I right? #Winning.
Speaking of pop culture references, Avocados from Mexico took a page out of T-Mobile’s book by filling their super bowl ad with a ton of pop culture references. I’m talking Rubik’s cubes, Scott Baio, and even that darn dress that broke the internet last summer.
Who knew that dress would make its comeback in a super bowl commercial?! Not me.
Well, that pretty much summed up the best commercials that aired during the game. What did you guys think about all the Super Bowl ads this year? Let me know in the comment section below!
