BLACKPINK's Comeback DELAYED & BLINKs Are Furious!

We have some disappointing news for all you Blackpink fans out there, though a lot of you have probably seen the outrage that is already building online.What’s up guys it’s Emile Ennis Jr here with Clevver News and after a long period of waiting and hearing nothing but silence, we found out today that BlackPink’s comeback won’t be happening this year.Despite their monumental year, Blackpink’s management company YG Entertainment made an official announcement that they will be delaying Blackpink’s comeback until sometime next year. The music label released a statement, as they usually do, which read “The comeback of girl group Blackpink is likely to be delayed until next year”.They didn’t give a reason behind the delay, and a lot of fans were confused about the lack of information that YG Entertainment was giving out. This year, the girl group released their 5-song EP “Kill This Love”, which shot up to number 1 on the Billboard World Albums chart.That came out in April of this year, along with a promise that Blackpink would deliver even more music sometime soon.This is very different than the way that most traditional American or other western artists release music. Usually, if an artist in America were to drop a 5 song EP, that would be all we heard from them for at least a year. Artists like Charli XCX, Carly Rae Jepson, and Julia Michaels all have released an EP in the past few years that wasn’t immediately followed up by a full length album.But still, that’s what Blinks want and what YG Entertainment suggested.And with the year that Blackpink has had, they should strike while the iron is still hot. And boy, is it really hot right now.Their music video for “DDU-DU DDU-DU” just reached one BILLION views on Youtube. It became the most viewed video by any K-Pop group of all time, as well as the third most watched video by any girl group.
Fifth Harmony takes up the first two spots on the girl group list, with “Work From Home” coming in first place with over 2.2 billion views.In second place is Fifth Harmony’s “Worth It” video, which has 1.7 billion views.But third place is no small feat. Especially when you take into account that Blackpink holds not just third place, but also 4th, 5th, 6th, 10th, and 11th place. So 6 out of 11 really isn’t bad.But Blinks want more. And more they will get. They’ll just have to wait until 2020. The founder of YG Entertainment said that he had hoped to have a second Blackpink comeback sometime during 2019.Earlier this year, in August, he faced charges of gambling in a foreign country and securing the money, in violation of South Korean Law.But he gambled again by saying that Blackpink would be back for a second comeback in 2019. And now that YG is saying otherwise, he’s really paying the price.Their first comeback would have been during the promotion and release of “Kill This Love”, which scored them a set at Coachella in April.They became the first K-Pop group to perform at the massive music festival. And though the group never confirmed a set comeback date, a lot of people thought we’d get one by the end of the year. Now, fans want them to leave YG Entertainment for good. The hashtag “blackpink leave YG” is trending all across Twitter, with fans thinking that the girls would be better off under different management.
Speaking of letdowns, Blinks were also under fire last week after they won 3 awards at the People’s Choice Awards for best music video, favorite group, and best concert tour. BTS fans believed that BTS should have won multiple of those awards, and even went as far as to accuse NBC and E! Of rigging the results to make Blackpink win. But still, Blackpink has had success of their own. On top of winning 3 PCAs, they also were named on the Times 100 Next list, which named the most influential people of the future. They were named second, right under the cover star Camila Cabello.
So I definitely do expect to see a lot more of Blackpink in the new year. Especially since they have confirmed that they are, in fact, working on new music. In September, they did a meet and greet with fans in Seoul. At the event, they said “we’re currently working on new music.
