There’s some bad news for 50 Shades of Grey fans – and this isn’t the biggest shocker, but you might be disappointed. Like some of you.
Hey guys! So the latest is that the 2nd film in the book to movie series is already delayed. Or according to MTV, ha, props for this headline: “Here’s why the ‘Fifty Shades’ Sequel Might Be Tied Up For A While.” So Variety reports that the book author, EL James wants to write the screenplay this time around… Some people argued that it was the author’s creative control over the keeping the first movie as close to a book replica as possible that actually hurt the final product. But as the outlet reports, EL and the studio are in talks for her to take on her first ever screenplay because it’s open in the author’s contract. It’s also reported that director Sam Taylor-Johnson and screenwriter Kelly Marcel for 50 Shades of Grey are not expected to return for 50 Shades Darker… and because of all of these changes and “uncertainty,” production for movie-2 likely won’t begin until Q1 of 2016, which would push back the release to late 2016 / early 2017. Alright, so does this affect your Valentine’s Day plans for 2016 when the sequel was set to hit theatres?? Or are you ‘all good’ when it comes to seeing more of the guilty pleasure that is 50 Shades? And what do you think about book author EL James taking on the screenplay this whirl around? Get the discussion started below – and you can tweet me @DanaWardOnline.
