Beyonce, Jay-Z, and Blue Ivy attended the Wearable Art Gala in Los Angeles over the weekend organized by mama Tina and her huband Richard Lawson to raise money for a non-profit art and performance complex. During the auction part of the evening, Blue Ivy bid on an acrylic painting of Sidney Poitier for 19,000 dollars and it was nothing short of iconic.
Blue originally bid 17,000 but proceeded to attempt to beat out the competition with 19,000 before Jay-Z jokingly tried to stop her from spending mommy and daddys hard earned cash. Tyler Perry ended up swooping in to save the day by topping Blue’s bid with 20,000. But Blue wasn’t done. She got right back into the game to bid on the next item which was a 36 x 36 art piece made of deconstructed law and medical books. She bid 10,000 dollars and won! According to Vanity Fair, Beyonce also made a winning bid of 17,000 on a set of Lorraine Schwartz earrings that she’d previously worn.
Beyonce was honored at the gala with the Humanitarian Award for her charitable work over the years and was even honored by Michelle Obama. Talk about a bucket list check off. The theme of the gala was Waco to Wakanda so you best believe everyone showed out with full on regalia. Beyonce and Blue were decked out in gold which made them look even more royal than usual. I strive to be a six year old who bids on art for 19,000 dollars. You?
