Cardi B opened up about her own past experience involving a magazine photoshoot and the Times Up movement.
Hey, guys, it’s Sussan Mourad here with Clevver News and “Untold Stories of Hip Hop” is a brand new series premiering tonight on WE TV.
In every episode, Angie Martinez interviews two major hip hop stars about intimate, never before told details of their life and their relationships with other hip hop or rap icons.
The first episode, which comes out later tonight, features both Snoop Dogg and Cardi B. The description for tonight’s episode reads “Cardi B opens up about her shocking #MeToo moment and exposes her first time having sex with Offset. Snoop Dogg details his final encounter with Biggie and plane flight with Tupac and Suge Knight that almost ended his life”.
In a short clip preview of tonight’s episode of WE TV’s “Untold Stories of Hip Hop”, Cardi B starts to tell the story of an inappropriate act that happened to her while on set for a magazine shoot.
Cardi recalls a while back that she was shooting a magazine cover when the photographer started goading her and propositioning her.
He gave her a sort of quid-pro-quo where he said that he can get her a good magazine shoot if she did sexual favors for him.
She goes on to say that she ended up leaving the magazine shoot early, without further incident.
But when she went to tell the owner of the unnamed magazine, he didn’t have much of a reaction.
We didn’t get word on what magazine it was or who the photographer or owner is, but I for one am hoping she drops those names in the episode tonight. Because they shouldn’t be able to get away with it.
Cardi agrees that things like this happen every day to women who aren’t as powerful as Cardi has become.
And with the Me Too movement that started about two years ago, we know that there are hundreds of women that have experienced something like this in their own lives - whether they are rappers, actresses, politicians, or just normal, not famous people working for a corrupt boss.
But there was some good, positive moments that came out of the Cardi B interview about the Me Too movement. Like when Angie asked her if things like that still happen to her:
So consider that a warning to all the creepy photographers out there. And good for Cardi for speaking out and raising awareness.
But what do you guys think? This show hasn’t even come out yet and we’re already learning a lot about some of our favorite artists. Are you going to watch? What other stories would you like to hear on this show? Let me know what you think in the comment section below.
