Location:
As an annual affair, KL 's Chinatown, Petaling Street exploded with activity to usher in 'choy goh mei’. This year was no different. Despite the coronavirus news the crowd was not afraid of coming out to join the celebrations right on the streets for something they have been waiting for. Watch these series of two videos featuring a close-up of the crowd and especially on two champion lion dance troupes battling it out in full glory. This is a rare sight for the crowds to witness live at one spot.
For your information, the green lion troupe is the Genting Highlands champion, while the red troupe is the world champion! Indeed, the colourful presentation is a picturesque scene filled with rhythmic drum beats and electrifying moves. If you missed this year's performance, you now have the opportunity to watch over and over again their showmanship.
Best of all, instead of oranges, the lions distributed wonderful packets of ‘curry bak- kwa’ ( barbecued meat ) to spectators.
