'DAP kafir': Syahredzan refers PN MP to privileges committee over remark

Syahredzan Johan (Pakatan Harapan-Bangi) has referred Ahmad Marzuk Shaary (Perikatan Nasional-Pengkalan Chepa) to the Parliamentary Rights and Privileges Committee over the latter’s “DAP kafir” remark earlier this week.

Syahredzan, one of three DAP Muslim MPs, said he had submitted a motion on the matter yesterday and stood up to inquire a response from deputy speaker Ramli Mohd Nor, who presided over the session.

Marzuk had previously explained that his remark was based on a 2016 statement by then Pahang mufti Abdul Rahman Osman, who reportedly labelled the DAP as “kafir harbi” or infidels who oppose Muslims and the Islamic religion.
