Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said that Islam is not a cruel religion that encourages people to chop hands and heads. When asked about the government’s will to change to the more compassionate form of Islam, the PM said the religion takes care of humans lives and does not ask its followers to intrude into people’s homes in reference to the religious authorities’ “khalwat” raids to catch couples involved in close proximity activities.
