Amid an ongoing rift within Bersatu, Dr Mahathir Mohamad has mooted the idea of forming another Malay-based party.

The former premier, who has insisted on holding on to his position as Bersatu chairperson, sarcastically said the party would be called "Parti Apa Aku Dapat" (what can I get party).

According to him, it would be open to all Malays yet to be rewarded under the Perikatan Nasional government.

"Many Malays like to form political parties. I formed Bersatu but now the party is split into two.

"That is why I want to form another Malay political party. The party's name is AAD or 'Apa Aku Dapat'," he said, alluding to claims of Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin offering positions to Umno MPs to secure their support.
