Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said that one of the reasons for lowering the voting age and allowing youths to become candidates at the age of 18 is that youths are maturing faster now as the environment is more open.
He said they had access to information through many sources such as books, movies, websites and travel more frequently which helps them to gain knowledge.
