Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa said Malaysia's ratification of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD) will be done with 'reservations'.
“Malaysia can ratify with reservations, which means that we can ratify the convention while still adhering to existing laws and provisions under the Federal Constitution,” Dr Mujahid told reporters that at Parliament lobby on Monday.
He said that the ratification of the convention would be done in the context of the cultural heritage and constitutional framework was such as the special position of the Malays and Bumiputera rights.
