EC removes 'Rosmah billboard' in Ayer Hitam

There was a moment of tension when local authorities took down a billboard put up by DAP’s candidate for Ayer Hitam, Liew Chin Tong.
The Election Commission had ordered for the billboard to be taken down as it featured Rosmah Mansor, the wife of caretaker prime minister Najib Abdul Razak.
The billboard said that a vote for MCA's Wee Ka Siong was a vote for Najib and Rosmah and had pictures of the three of them.
Liew Chin Tong's supporters had earlier spray painted over Rosmah's picture and eventually cut her picture out but the EC insisted that the board be taken down.
An EC official, speaking on condition of anonymity to Malaysiakini denied any bias and said that if either BN or Harapan does wrong the EC will reprimand them.
Last week, the EC announced new regulations for campaign materials, which among others states that only the images of the party president and deputy can appear alongside that of the candidate.
