Education Ministry deputy director-general for Policy and Curriculum Habibah Abdul Rahim explained during a forum last night that the introduction of Jawi in vernacular schools is to promote appreciation of the art.
She noted how the Education Ministry had revised the syllabus after receiving strong feedback and switched the original proposal to incorporate Seni Khat (Jawi calligraphy) to just Jawi writing.
