Fahmi Fadzil not ready to back Harapan Coin

PKR strategic communications director Fahmi Fadzil says he will not agree with the planned Harapan Coin cryptocurrency project until Bank Negara provides proper guidelines on cryptocurrency.
Fahmi says proper regulations on political funding is also needed because of the anonymous nature of cryptocurrency.
Yesterday, Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad said that the Harapan Coin proposal will be submitted to Bank Negara and the prime minister soon. Khalid is the co-founder of the project.
He also said the cryptocurrency would be able to be used for government transactions such as license fees, payment of summonses and many others.
The Harapan Coin website was registered in December last year. Like most initial coin offering websites, it offers a “white paper” to state its objectives, which in this case is to raise funds for Harapan ahead of the 14th general election.
