Fans REACT to Ariana Grande's Only AMA Nom

Ariana Grande was nominated for one singular American Music Award this year, and fans are considering it a MAJOR snub.
That’s right, you guys! Arianators are NOT happy.
In case you missed it, the nominations for the 2018 American Music Awards were released just yesterday, but one prominent musician was missing from, well, ALL of the major categories. While Ariana Grande is nominated for Favorite Social Artist at this year’s AMAs, she’s noticeably not up for an award in any of the major categories including Artist of the Year, Favorite Music Video, or Favorite Female Artist – Pop/Rock. So, what’s that about?
Well, here’s the tea — Sweetener, which went to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, was released on August 17th, about a week after the AMAs’ August 9th deadline for submission. Unfortunately, this means that the album was not eligible to be nominated this year. This doesn’t explain, however, why “No Tears Left to Cry” and “God is a Woman” were not nominated in the song or music video categories.
Obviously, fans feel that Ari deserved to be nominated for more than that one measly award, and they took to Twitter, as fandoms do, to express their frustration.
One fan wrote, QUOTE, “Only favorite social artist for one of the BIGGEST artists of the year @AMAs? Good luck with the audience.” Another fan was just as upset, writing, QUOTE, “So you’re telling me Ariana got snubbed from the amas this year after putting out her best music ever and only received a nomination for best SOCIAL artist?”
These, of course, are only a couple of examples of fan reactions to the AMA noms, but the others are pretty similar with many people saying the AMAs are cancelled altogether!
Also noticeably snubbed from the list of nominees are Nicki Minaj, who didn’t even get a single nom, Beyoncé, who was only nominated for Tour of the Year with Jay-Z, and BTS, who is also up for Favorite Social Artist. Camila Cabello, Taylor Swift, Drake, Cardi B and Ed Sheeran dominated the categories this year, with each of them walking away with over four nominations each.
