A premises that were divided to make five small houses in Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur caught fire earlier tonight and saw firefighters racing to control the blaze from spreading to nearby houses.
According to a statement from Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department, they received a call on the incident at 8.19pm and dispatched 36 firefighters to the scene together with five fire engines and a water tanker.
"The incident involves a house the size of 80 by 40 square feet, which had been divided into five smaller houses. About 90 percent of the building was destroyed"
"We used both offensive and defensive firefighting techniques to put off the blaze, and also cooling method at the other houses nearby," said Rahmat Kamarulzaman, the department's senior operations commander.
