Former Umno vice-president Ismail Sabri Yaakob has warned that friction between parties in the government could get worse if there is no mutual respect between their leaders and members.

Ismail Sabri said this while commenting on the war of words between some figures within Umno and DAP.

"A ‘forced marriage’ will not work. It must be consensual. In a ‘forced marriage’, there are no feelings for each other. Thus, there will be fissures."

"This is just the beginning (of the relationship) but there are DAP (people) commenting about Umno and Umno commenting about DAP," he said in Kuala Lumpur yesterday, according to Utusan Malaysia.
