Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng accused Umno of taking 'political revenge' on their decision to table a motion at the Penang State Assembly sitting in May to demand that he resign over his on-going corruption case.
He said Umno had decided to table the motion for his resignation as the Penang government would be tabling a motion against Tasek Gelugor MP Shabudin Yahaya over his remarks in Parliament during a debate over child marriage.
However he said that as a democratic party, if the speaker allows it, it will be allowed to be tabled, unlike in Dewan Rakyat where the motion to ask for the Prime Minister to resign was not allowed.
