Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng arrived at the Penang High Court with his wife Betty Chew at around 8.35am.
His supporters who had gathered outside the court started chanting, "Lim Guan Eng" and "Keep on fighting" as he made his way into the court.
The trial has put Penangites on the edge, as Lim is the first chief minister in Penang to face a graft trial, although he has repeatedly decried the charges as political persecution.
