Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng on Friday said it is up to MCA to decide if the party wants to convert Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) to a public university, but he reiterated the government’s stand that when it comes to public funding, there must be a separation between political parties and education.
Lim said that after handing over a letter of commitment from the Ministry of Finance on Friday confirming that the government will allocate at least RM30 million a year to the TARCian Alumni Association (TAA), established by the Alumni Association of TAR UC, and once the trust fund is established, the government's funding will be directly distributed to the trust fund.
