The anti-Lynas rally this morning was meant to culminate with the burning of the Pakatan Harapan manifesto to symbolise how the government had allegedly broken its promise towards sustainable development.
However, anti-Lynas lead campaigner Tan Bun Teet told the crowd that instead of burning it, people should tear it up, before throwing it in the bin.
While tearing the document on stage, Tan announced that the Harapan manifesto cannot be trusted.
Around 500 protesters gathered at at Taman Gelora, Kuantan this morning to reject the government's decision to extend Lynas' permit to operate a rare earth refinery in Pahang.
The protest, which kicked off at about 8am, saw protestors carrying placards and banners denouncing the government.
