Sometimes, if we’re really really lucky, we are graced with a music video that has it all: a storyline, emotions, hot shirtless guys. Sometimes, when the stars align and an artist knows their audience really really well, they give us the music video of our dreams.
It only happens sometimes. Ariana’s “Thank U Next”. Beyonce’s “Formation”. BTS’s “Fake Love”. And now we’re getting another gem with Harry Styles’s “Lights Up”.
What’s up guys I’m Emile Ennis Jr here with Clevver News and Harry just dropped the song and music video for his new single “Lights Up”.
It’s his first musical release in over 2 years - since he dropped his self-titled debut album in 2017.
And apparently it’s only the first of many. “Lights Up” is kicking off what’s supposed to be the first single for his upcoming second album.
And another said “HAPPY HARRY STYLES DAY AND HAPPY NATIONAL COMING OUT DAY. THIS IS QUEER CULTURE”
Harry started teasing the song by returning to social media. On October 5 he tweeted a very prolific message: “Do”
People didn’t really know what it meant at the time, but it still got over 600 thousand likes.
And someone responded “my lawyers will be contacting you due to the emotional damages caused by this tweet”
Well, as it turns out, “Do” referenced the chorus of “Lights Out” where Harry sings “Do You Know Who You Are”?
Over the past few weeks, mysterious posters have popped up in big cities in the US and UK asking “Do You Know Who You Are?”
People traced the photos back to Harry because they contained the letters “TPWK”, which stands for “Treat People With Kindness”.
This phrase was plastered all over his last tour for his first album, including a lot of his merch.
He also returned to Instagram to post for the first time in over a year. And when it rains, it pours.
He posted 3 times in an hour, showing two stills from his new video as well as a promotional shot.
The first one showed him in a typically Harry silver shirt and suspenders.
And of course a lot of famous people flocked to the comments when they saw the return of Harry.
Iconic model slash Liam Payne’s rumored ex Naomi Campbell sent a heart and three fire emojis.
Mert Alas, the photographer who took those nudie judies of Liam also commented a bunch of lightning bolts.
PRAYING for a photography collab between Mert and Harry.
Afterwards, he posted this promo shot for “Lights Up”, which immediately got over a million likes.
Then he posted another still of him in the music video - this time drowning in a pool.
And Kacey Musgraves was HERE for it. Also praying for a collab between those two.
Are you guys here for it as well? Let me know what you think about the song in the comment section below! And then tell me what you think Harry’s next album might look like and when we should expect it.
