Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Aziz said that the opposition is attacking Prime Minister Najib Razak over his quinoa diet as they have no other issues to bring up.
He said there was nothing wrong with Najib eating quinoa and that he could afford it and when the opposition have nothing to do they will look for all these things.
Opposition leaders have taken Najib to task, accusing the prime minister of not being in touch with the plight of the people after he revealed that he was now consuming quinoa instead of rice.
DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang said this is because a 250g pack of organic quinoa at Tesco costs RM14.80, which in other words, meant that the quinoa which the prime minister consumes is about 23 times more expensive than rice, eaten by 30 million Malaysians.
