2017 is coming to an end and you know what that means, a bunch of year in reviews from all your favorite social sites! Twitter recently released their data for the year and according to all of their stats, K-Pop boyband BTS is both the most tweeted about celebrities (globally) and most tweeted about musicians in the U.S. of 2017.
In the Most Tweeted About Celebrities (Global) category, BTS beat out Seventeen (another K-Pop group), Camila Cabello, Justin Bieber, Maine Mendoza, Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Ethan Dolan, Monsta X, and Grayson Dolan. While in the U.S., BTS nabbed the number one spot from Nicki Minaj, Harry Styles, Chance the Rapper, Niall Horan, Fifth Harmony, Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes, Rihanna, and Ariana Grande.
Honestly, taking the number one spot from all of those celebs…that’s pretty impressive. But then again, BTS basically caused mass hysteria when they beat out Justin, Selena, Ariana, and Shawn for top social artist at the BBMAs this year, so maybe this win was to be expected?
It may seem as if BTS blew up and became a huge sensation overnight, but the group has been HUGE in South Korea since 2012 and now it’s pretty obvious that they’re taking over the United States with their charmingly good looks and catchy songs.
Now I’m sure many of you Directioners, Harry stans, Beliebers, and every other fanbase out there REFUSE to believe BTS is bigger than your faves, but Twitter likes and retweets don’t lie!
