After more than 34 hours of going missing from his bail arraignment and sparking a police hunt, Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos has finally emerged, promising authorities his full cooperation.
In a recording sent to reporters in the early hours this morning, he denies running away from hospital during the out of court bail proceedings, and instead put the whole fiasco down to a misunderstanding.
He claimed that he had rushed from hospital to Tabung Haji on Friday as soon as he thought his remand was over so that he could withdraw money needed to cover the bail and other necessary costs related to the case.
Taking into account he was unwell, he added that he decided to take a rest even though he received a call notifying him that police were on the lookout for him.
