He’s totally preaching the truth on his own Insta page with the statement post, “Don’t Let Instagram Define Your Self Worth.” And then he further explained the statement with a caption that read QUOTE “For those who look at someone else's Instagram and say I wish my life was like that, Know that often Instagram is not who people really are, but who they want people to think they are. I'm choosing to not let other people define me.”
This is coming from a man who doesn’t shy away from sharing photos of his lavish lifestyle and high profile friends, so by posting this statement he may be insinuating that his life isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be and that there is more to the Biebs than just private jets, expensive cars, and Calvin Klein underwear.
It’s clear that Justin is in agreement with on-again, off-again girlfriend, Selena Gomez who made similar sentiments last week when speaking at We Day in Canada saying, “you are not defined by an Instagram photo, by a like, by a comment, that does not define you.” In fact, I really like the passion behind SG’s speech, so let’s take another look.
And not only is this message applicable to public figures like Justin and Selena, but also to people like you and me. Sure we all post exciting parts of our lives and there’s nothing wrong with that, but we shouldn’t judge each other and think we know everything about a person based off of what is portrayed on social media. And you shouldn’t feel the need to be validated by the number of likes on a picture. #WeAreNotOurInstas So golf claps to Bieber for stating his truth.
