12th to 16th September. Pavilion Kuala LumpurShow Makyung is performed either for ritual or entertainment purposes. The ritual performances are usually conducted in combination with the most important of the shamanistic dances of Malay culture – the main puteri which shares a similar spiritual essence.The acting in makyung has specific dialogue or stylised text ucap tetap, which is poetic and filled with nuances, accompanied with gestures, movement or kirat. However, improvisation of dialogue is a key element of the performance and is an indicator of the proficiency, especially of the lead actors.
Darinai Dance Music and Dance Entertainment was officially established in 2008 as a group actively involved in the theater and dance performances, a combinations of traditional and modern music, theater in the form of traditional and contemporary. The company specializes in traditional dance performances such as Mak Yong, Mek mulung, Wayang Kulit, Dikir Barat, Selampit and Main Teri and more.
