From suicide to murder to wife Kim K, no subject is off limits in Kanye’s darkest album yet.
It’s been over two years in the making, but Kanye FINALLY debuted his new EP -- to a very intimate, handpicked crowd at an album listening party in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
The EP features seven tracks, and some of the lucky first listeners of the album included Chris Rock, Jonah Hill, Big Sean, and Pusha T.
The tracks feature everyone from Kid Cudi to Ty Dolla $ign to Nicki Minaj, and when it comes to the lyrical content of the album, Kanye did NOT hold back. Through the songs, Kanye addresses his mental health, drug addiction, thoughts of suicide, Tristan Thompson‘s cheating scandal, and Kim’s reaction to his recent outrageous claims that slavery was a choice.
And Kanye dives right into it, as the first track features verses covering thoughts of suicide and murder.
There’s one song that tells us a little more about how Kim was REALLY feeling behind the scenes of Kanye’s controversial statements. On that track, he raps QUOTE, “Wifey calling screaming saying we’re about to lose it all I had to calm her down ‘cos she couldn’t breathe/ I told her she could leave me now but she wouldn’t leave / This is what they mean for better or for worse huh?”
And Kanye even rapped about Tristan Thompson cheating on sister-in-law Khloe. On one track he raps QUOTE, “All these thots on Christian Mingle/That’s what almost got Tristan single.”
Other famous figures mentioned on the album include Stormi Daniels, Kris Jenner’s boyfriend Corey Gamble, and Russell Simmons, who was recently accused of sexual assault.
On that song he sings QUOTE, “Russell Simmons want to pray for me too/ I pray for him because he got Me Too’d”.
Kanye also West also spoke about his drug addiction struggles and his bipolar diagnosis. On the later subject, he called the disorder a QUOTE “superpower”, adding that it QUOTE, “ain’t no disability, I’m a superhero.”
