Katy took to Twitter to announce that her new single, called “Bon Appetit”, will be released this Friday and will also feature hip-hop trio Migos. The cover art for the song plays into the name, with Katy’s head being served on a plate of fruit as the Migos guys reach for a piece. It’s equal parts playful and creepy…
While Katy releasing new music should never be seen as bad news, tons of fans are disappointed that Ariana Grande isn’t the featured artist on the track, as rumors have been swirling for months that she and Katy have been working on a single together.
The moment Katy tweeted out the album art and revealed that she collabed with Migos on the song, and NOT Ari, fans flooded twitter with their frustration and disappointment, mostly with confused and angry memes.
Katy addressed those grievances by tweeting back QUOTE, “LOVE Ari. We tight. That has always been fake news baby. Live and learn.” And when one fan asked Katy why she didn’t clear up the rumors that the single would feature Ari earlier, she wrote back QUOTE, “honey I don’t have time for true and false 24/7”.
On a lighter, non-fake-news note, Katy is also set to perform on SNL on May 20th, so we can probably expect to see the live version of Bon Appetit on the sketch show then. The episode will be hosted by Dwayne Johnson, so set your DVRs asap cuz you know that’s gonna be a good one!
