Former Selangor menteri besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim is unfazed by Puncak Niaga Holding Bhd's RM14 billion suit.
Puncak Niaga is reported to have sued the Selangor state government, Khalid as well as his successor and current menteri besar Azmin Ali over the take-over of the water industry.
As for the water services company's allegation that he had abused his power, the corporate figure-turned-politician replied: “On behalf of the people of Selangor, I am willing to do that.”
Puncak Niaga alleged that both Azmin and Khalid had abused their powers by threatening to cause, or attempt to cause, the federal government to invoke the use of the Water Services Industry Act 2006 to force a takeover of the state's water industry.
Speaking to reporters in Parliament, Khalid said during his tenure as menteri besar from 2008 to 2014, he had been fair to the stakeholders in Selangor's water restructuring.
