[KiniNews] Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has taken a swipe at the opposition regarding the Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) shares issue with Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP).

Speaking at his monthly gathering with the Prime Minister’s Department today, Anwar said he does not understand the opposition’s claim that GIP will take over the airport.

“With the transition, 70 percent of the shares will belong to Khazanah and EPF. The opposition argues that even with 30 percent, they (GIP) can take over. I don’t know how they count,” he said.

Meanwhile, in a separate story, former deputy minister Ong Kian Ming has questioned Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli’s statement that the government will replicate its strategy and not give the public advance notice on any decision to remove blanket subsidies for RON95 petrol.

He told Malaysiakini that the government’s move to “keep its cards close to its chest the same way it surprised everyone with the diesel subsidy rationalisation programme” was likely to be ill-received and invite a backlash.
