[KiniNews] Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution has stressed that the focus on rallies for Palestine should be on the core issues instead of whether they are allowed to chant the “takbir”.

He was responding to Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal who questioned if ‘takbir’ was prevented at rallies and if they can condemn Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Saifuddin added that any ban was at the discretion of the organisers and is not the government's stand.

Wan Fayhsal has raised the question following claims that the organisers of a rally on Sunday had disallowed demonstrators from chanting the takbir.

Meanwhile, in a separate story, the police have arrested four individuals, including PSM chairperson Dr Michael Jeyakumar Devaraj, for trying to stop the eviction of farmers in Kanthan, Tambun, in Perak.
